Battery isolator

2006 342 Rinker with an original 2 alternator 3 bank 70 amp isolator . On this forum people have suggested going to a 120 amp which is 400$ cdn more than a 70 amp . Is there any reason I can’t go with a 70 to save the 400$? Thanks

stick with the 70a, save the $$... you're going to be slower to charge as it 'isolates', though.  that's it and that's all.  the benefit isn't even really realized unless you're using a massive battery bank, or, unless you're using AGM type batteries which can charge quickly under higher load (amps).

it 'is' nice to pump amperage at a bank and charge faster, though... $400 nicer? up to you, sir.
