strange way to go

a local guy here runs the best marine mechanic show in the region.

He passed yesterday.... he started a stubborn tractor with intent to move a large boat into the shop while standing beside it... it was in gear... it rolled on top of him and then choked out- crushing him as well as suffocating him... either way, he's a goner.

He left behind some very loyal friends and customers and will be sorely missed.   There are over 200 boats on his lot right now in various stages of repair and nobody really knows what stages... its going to be a mess...

Its a heck of a way to go.... its sad.... he was a good friend to everyone he ever met and charged nowhere near what he should have charged for the services he rendered.

Yikes. Several years ago  high school friend was working for PennDOT and was riding on a dozer. He jumped off while it was moving and slipped under the tracks and died instantly

I have a tractor with a ROPS roll bar. I tipped it over on its side once, got too close to the edge of a gully obscured by brush, and without that I likely would have been a goner. Now I'm an old guy who's into safety.

Farming (tractors, dozers, combines) - one of the most dangerous occupations.
