Impeller change - Is rtv necessary or even diserable on top of bolts holding the impeller housing?

I noticed the top of the bolts on my impeller housing have a gasket like material like rvt on them.  This is the first time I am changing the impeller so the prior owner must have thought it was necessary.  I was cleaning off the bolts wanted to know if this is a common practice.  I don't want to make the bolts more difficult to remove the next time.  The engine is a 1982 75hp Chrysler.

Ive always used light rtv.  Maybe @Alswagg will chime in.

@PickleRick Thanks for your reply.  I know the impeller acts as a vacuum to force the water up the water tube into the engine so I guess a little will help improve the seal.  I just am worried that it will cause the bolts to become difficult to remove.  I already put anti-seize on them so they will not get frozen in there.  I am going to use about 60 ft lb torque on the bolts as other youtube videos suggest.

the rtv is a cheap and easy way to keep it from seizing is all... doesn't help with sealing as the gasket covers that... in salt water, it just about has to be done with the dissimilar metals... in fresh water and if you aren't in a marina (stray current), i don't know how useful it is- but it's still to easy not to do...

When I installed my Harden pumps,the instructions said to use permitex aviation gasket sealer on the housing gasket and anti seize on the bolts.

@212rowboat and @aero3113 - Thanks for the reply.  I topped the bolts with rtv and coated the threads with anti seize the way it was done before.  The bolts were fairly easy to remove this time so I just tried to put it back the way I found it  I do appreciate the insights coming from the forum members.
