Before I installed mine, I did very extensive research of not just Rinkers, but all installs in general.  A transom mounted transducer gives much better readings, when properly installed.
I've installed transom mounted transducers on I believe 6 different boats, and only had an issue once, with an interfering signal from the factory depth finder.  Beams were crossing each others path, and causing wacky readings.

Based on advice from Lowrance I installed my transom mount port rear corner to get way from the existing through hull and the drives. Works well. Newer units are also a different frequency and so less prone to interference.
