Thinking of bringing my boat from Lake Mohave to Coastal Waters in Orange County

I'm thinking of bringing my Captiva 232 (2005) from Lake Mohave down to Huntington Beach where it can be easily launched. I am taking some advance boating courses for coastal boating, but wondered if anyone thinks running it in these waters is a bad idea, and I'm even thinking of planning a trip over to Catalina if the weather conditions look like they will be right. I've been told about flushing the engine... anything else or any tips?

@Hardslug....the 232 is an awesome hull - what engine do you have? I think it could be ordered with a big block?
