I just ordered a Rinda scan tool (94070 + 94006). Figured it’s money well spent and will help with any future trouble shooting. Can the scan tool be connected to both engines at once or only be connected one at a time? Would be nice to see the numbers side by side to compare engines. Also, if anyone has any experience/tips for using it, would like to hear any feedback. Thanks!

I have it and swear by it.  You can only connect it to one engine at a time though.  If you have specific questions just let me know.  The interface is pretty straight forward though.  Initially just plug it in and have the engine in the on position, not started.  You can then go through all the menus and see what they show.  The documentation /user guide is online also.  It like everything else is upgrade able with patches that they release every so often.

@LaRea basically same tool. Have had mine for 5 year's now has helped me and some others. @aero3113 have a pen and paper ready some you can right things down, like hours. Gives a breakdown in 500rpm increments.

I think mine paid for itself the first year.  Reading a trouble code on the Rinda vs paying a mechanic to do something simple.  Agree with @reneechris14 i also use my phone to take pics of the screen so i can look at them later.

Thanks @davidbrooks , excited to be able to get info and not have to wait for a tech if any issues come up. @reneechris14 , will be nice to see how the previous owner ran the boat.

Of course it shows up after I left to go to the boat today! It’s a nice size to work with. I’ll have to get a case to store it in.

Sweet!! I have thought about getting the laptop version, but don’t want to spend the $$$.

The laptop version would be nice but I would be afraid of damaging the laptop. This seems pretty durable and is water resistant.

Yes, it came with the adapter for my engines and a second one for earlier models.

It accepts an SD card so you can view on a laptop also.

Also the PC software is almost double the price of the handheld tool.

Which makes no sense seeing as the hardware is added cost and the core of the software needed would be embedded in the tool.

Can you make changes with the hand held, like changing the port engine ID?

No problem. I really see the handheld as the diy guy tool. Has everything i need and a little more. The software solution has so much more i would classify it as the pro solution.

Hey, does the Rinda tell you the drive trim position in raw A/D counts?  My Vesselview shows the calibrated trim position, but I need to know the raw signal being received by the engine computer.

@LaRea no i dont think it does. I dont have a dts engine but i havent seen that in the manual or any of the menus. You can thumb through the user guide https://www.rinda.com/techmatepro/tmpro_res.html

My VV 7 gives the raw data for the trim senders. If you go into engines and then the last menu item is configure the trim. It gives raw values and you can specify the range. Not sure if your newer VV is the same.

So I went to use the scan tool today for the first time. Is this the correct plug? It had a yellow terminator cap on it. Both adapters that came with the tool do not fit? It came with a 94005 and a 94006 adapter.

The plug will have cap on it the one you are looking for is  up by the oil resievor. The one in your pic is for vessal view or gateway. Put yellow cap back on.

Agree with @reneechris14 the plug is on top towards the front of the engine. It is about half as thick as the one you pointed out. That one with the yellow cap is the one you would use for vesselview.

Found it! The plug on my engines are at the rear.

I didn’t play with it for too long, next time I want to plug in and run the engines also. I was too busy cleaning the waste tank and going to the pump out.
