Planning winter mods - steering slop

I’m tired of the slop in my cable steering. It’s gotten worse since having to drive the boat with no starboard engine power and consequently wrestling with the wheel.

As I understand it, there is no way to adjust the cables?

Do I stick with a cable based setup or go hydraulic? Has anyone done the switch to hydraulic?

Thanks

I had my steering cable replaced on my 2006 boat. It dramatically improved what was a stiff wheel requiring too much effort to turn. No I can turn the wheel easily even with the engine off and no power assist. It has never been this good since I had the boat. Play in the steering wasn't bad, but it is less now. I did look at a hydraulic conversion, but now realize there is nothing much to gain over a cable if it operates as it should.
