Bravo 3 Transom Asy Question....mechanics??

Just got a new mercruiser Bravo 3 magnum transom asy to put on my boat. The mechanic is telling me that I need a new bell housing to match.

Can anybody verify this is true, he says there is some merc service bulletin?? I cannot find any information online.
