Filter wrench recommendations

I have a set of filter pliers, worked great on the small 5e oil filter at that odd angle. Now that I have two oil filters per engine and a spin on fuel filter i would like to invest in a decent filter wrench. Any tried and true recommendations? Harbor freight and menards have cheap ones for $4 but I’m concerned they are going to disappoint....

I just bought Lisle brand on Amazon. Small, standard, and large they have grip on the inside stripe to catch hold of the filter.  They work great!

I attempted to use that style but the filter was on so tight from the previous maintenance person that those would have punctured the housing and spilled oil everywhere.

Does Mac own Lisle, they have the lisle wrenches I bought on their website.

Thanks gang. Aero I have that exact pair of filter pliers. Love having pliers, but wanted to add a wrench to my toolbox.
AA I was looking at that exact swivel wrench on Amazon, I think I will go with that. I cant see where a consumer can buy a MAC wrench without buying a huge set but as you point out it looks like MAC makes that swivel on Amazon. Good stuff

I have a swivel that I've been using for 20 years. I can only remember one time that I had a little difficulty removing.  It's advantage is the equal amount of pressure all the way around.👍

On the inverted oil filters - I really wish there was a rim around the filter platform. Such a pain doing the quick flip with a Ziplock bag to catch the old oil. Virtually impossible to not make a mess.

I think Formula or Cobalt or ?? has an edged tray around the filter mount. Smart idea.

Yea, that’s the same I posted from Harbor Freight @Black_Diamond . They do crush the filter if it’s on tight but it will get it off.

Personally i have never had a lot of luck with the filter wrenches that are a band of metal.  I either end up buying the ones that are a cap for the end of the filter or actually this one which i primarily use.  It is the cheapest thing in the world but has worked for 20 yrs. https://www.autozone.com/shop-and-garage-tools/oil-filter-wrench/oem-jaw-type-oil-filter-wrench/344315_0_0

Ilmore is the manufacturer that makes those catch trays that go under the inverted oil filter. They even have a small drain hole in them to catch the spillage. I dont know what Mercury was thinking engineering their the way they did.

I like the cap style too. Never an issue as long as there’s space (easy on the Merc).

Swivel gripper from amazon worked perfectly! Good little wrench, standard size worked perfectly for the main engines oil filters and fuel filter, glad I bought it. The filter pliers I already had worked well on the smaller generator fuel like they did on my previous 5e.
