Outdrive Stands

I’m thinking about buying a prefabricated stand that’s adjustable to remove my drives. I also want to make a wooden fixed stand also. Anyone have pictures of what they use and dimensions if anyone built one?

24x24x24 angled the front so the drive slides on do it all by my self and a couple of HF dollys to move them around

This works for the hieght when the boat was in my yard a small piece of plywood and a couple 2x4s will help level and slide. I use a couple C-clamps from drive to the stand so I can hand truck them to the basement.

I’m thinking about something like this to remove the drives. Transfer one to the fixed wooden stand and keep the other on this.

@reneechris14 what is the with of the gap for the drive to slide in?

Although the crank ones look and work awesome, I think theyre pretty expensive. I built a wooden one like in the pics and tried to build it as close to the transom height as possible. I put caster wheels on it and roll it right to the transom. With a little effort i can easily get the drive on and off by myself just using the wood stand.  Again, not as convenient as a crank one but I only take the drives off every other year and it works pretty well.

Also, if I don’t get the adjustable stand, my 330 sits on 2 cinder blocks high at the keel with maybe a 2 x 4 in between, do you think the stand with the dolly will be a good hight to remove and install?

Thanks @SeaHare , I’m having second thoughts on the adjustable one but it would be nice to have.

The bottom of my drives would be a couple inches of the ground. Just put stuff under the plywood to adjust to your hieght. The wood rack slides easy on plywood the dolly moves to easy and will get away for you. Don't remember the gap but with your technology I'm sure you will figure that out.

Thanks @skuter99 , looks like you have the width @ 4.25 inches, I’m not used to the metric system!

yep, 4.25 inches.

I work in automotive component design in Michigan. We are all in metric (not to mention living in Canada!)

Just use the hand truck to stand up on the dolly

Put the dolly on the ground tilt hand truck back move up to the dolly stand up drive and hand truck.

I started to make the bases, I can screw them together then when the boat is out I can cut the hight I need. I made them the size of the dolly to save a little room. And input before I screw them together?

I changed my mind, I went 27” x 14.75” on the dolly.

If you can find my post when I pulled my drive, I did just like that and then built an 'A' frame to that base the right height and just slit the drive off and back on.

Bases are done, the top uprights and cross pieces are just placed there for now. Spacing is 4.25”. I’ll figure out the height/braces and if I want it mounted to the dolly when the boats out of the water.

The lower part of the drive will not fit though the 4.25 so you will need the angle. If you are wider then the dolly its ok. I also put a small piece up by the prop shaft to make it more stable.

With the price of lumber $450 might be cheaper. The lumberyard here has empty shelves and a 2*4*8 is $8. I usually paid around 2-3 if I remember right 🤨

I finished the stand, it wasn’t too bad getting the drive off. I ended up buying the adjustable stand also, it will definitely help with install.

great idea turning the 2x4,  slide it back alittle more the wieght looks to one side. Don't forget to blow out the speedo hole.

You didn’t rout the cut ends of the 2x4s - gotta say I’m a bit disappointed.

I don’t have a analog speedometer but I still had the line down at the drive, what should I do with it??
