Don’t forget to clean these guys. I used the parts cleaner at work and they cleaned up pretty good. They must’ve changed the cleaning solution because it doesn’t seem as strong as it did, it also doesn’t smell strong anymore. There’s still a little build up between the grooves but there clean enough.

Looks good! I always use dawn dish soap and hot water after blowing out with the compressor

I did mine over the summer and used K&N Air filter cleaner. I had it left over from my last motorcycle and gave it a shot. Really soaked it well and then hit it with the hose. Did a great job. Oh and yes i let it dry before i put it back on.

When cleaning mine this spring, I managed to break off the PCV tube attachment on one of them. Gotta decide whether to JB Weld or spend $$ for a new one. Opinions?

@LaRea one of mine is broken also, you can wedge the tube up in there and it stays in pretty tight.

They should’ve made the mounting holes spaced the same so you can just rotate it and use a different tab. I guess you can always just use a longer hose.

The pic I posted is the 5.7 or 5.0 what @LaRea posted is the 496 that's for the big boys. Those are the ones on my new boat they will be clean after I rebuild those big blocks$$

Yikes I guess I have the $700 one, there's got to be a less expensive one to replace it although I can't imagine it would need replacing since it's all metal. I had looked last year at a k&n filter to replace it just out of curiosity. I'm sure the coast guard wouldn't appreciate it however they don't patrol the river.

This is the Volvo one $150, only difference is that the hole on the back is not centered. Maybe this would work for the Mercury as well? I did find some aftermarket ones as well for less than $100

@a@aero3113 I ended up repairing the broken hose mount. I removed the tube and used a wire cutter to make four small flanges, then bent them out flat. I put a small sheet metal screw through each flange, and glued it with JB Weld MarineWeld.

It's not pretty, but it feels very sturdy (and it's normally hidden from view).
