Blower vent covers

So, I'm looking at replacing my vent covers once again as the center basically cracked or dryed up and fell apart. 

Those that went with the SS ones, like this:

What do you think so far?  Do you find yourself spending a lot of time keeping them clean?  Do they noticeably stand out too much?

Or, should I go with these again?

Or, is there something in between the two that might be better?  I'd love to have white anodized metal ones.

The stainless ones are nice and you won’t have to worry about them cracking. Hopefully the quality is good and they won’t rust.

I certainly like that option with the screens. I am about to replace the white 4” with the ones in your first link. Same for same, figured keep it oem. I put the white versions of the stainless link you posted on my 342 and they worked well but yellowed so I’d stick with stainless if going that version.

If you are worried about them standing out you could always paint them.

So, I'm bringing this topic back up as I have 12 of these to replace and just measured yesterday. I need the overall diameter to be less than 5 inches.  I don't see a size of the initial SS ones I mentioned, but the ones on Amazon are 5.84 inches overall.  Too big!  The white ones are around 4.5 inches overall and that is what I need.  I really want to go with metal, as the white ones are just plain junk that cracks and falls apart.  Has anyone found an alternative?

Edit:  ok, I see that the first ones do have a dimension listed.  Now it's just if I want to spend $15 a piece for 12 of them.  But, it is grade 316 SS, so I may have to just go for it.  Anyone that bought these, any thoughts?

my only other question is states the opening needs to be 4.25 inches.  I'm wondering if I should wait until this weekend and pull it out to measure the hole first.

I bought these exact ones in white plastic for the 342. Yes they held up better than the original thin white plastic ones as they didnt deteriorate and fall apart, but they were definitely more yellow after a couple of summers and that boat was the sand gelocat, not white like yours. That was 5 years ago so they could be better now, but my experience with these in white is that they yellow with the sun.

Bought these on Amazon...$3-$4 I think...but they are "screened" to keep the wasps out.  and they look good.

Well, I ordered the 316SS ones.  Got 12 for $178.  Lot of $ for vent covers, but I'm tired of the plastic ones going bad and looking like crap.  My only concern is the portion that contacts the hose is still plastic, but that will not see daylight.  Also, for half of them, it won't even have a hose on them.  I should have them on Friday, so maybe I'll get them on this weekend and post some before/after pics.

Where did you get them from?  I only have two that are exterior facing.  So i might get the SS ones for that and leave the ones that are under the aft seat as plastic.

Dream when I did mine I added some hose to the hose less vents so that when rain water comes in through those it’s channeled away from stuff like the generator and batteries. You may not have important stuff under your hose less vents like the 342 does but if you do something to consider

@Liberty44140 I don't generally get much water in the vents, so I'm hoping this new style will deflect any even more.  That is a good ideal though if I start seeing water lay in that area (my batteries & waste tank are in that general area).

well, I  got them installed today. Nothing is ever as easy as it should be, but it's done and looks good.

Looks good Dream, did you have to remove the upper cowl to replace or would the ducting slide out with the vent

Thanks guys!  I was able to pull the hoses thru, but that was the biggest pain because then they were too tight to put back in. I'm very happy with them.  I agree @Willhound, I may have to look for a different waste cap.

@raybo3 not sure I want to comment!  There's always one of you.🤗 That line isn't holding anything cause the boat was sitting on the lift.😁

I spent a good amount on an SS waste cap. Problem is without a tether the inevitable is going to happen and it did so back to the cheap plastic.....

I looked into changing mine to a stainless one a few years ago. Unfortunately the same manufacturer of the black one makes a stainless one but it is a slightly different size so direct replacement isn’t easy.

Dream_Inn, I know this discussion is sort of old. Did you have a 4" dia. hole for your vent or 4.25"? Mine is a 4" hole. Just wondering if these will work.

I had to make the holes just a little larger, mainly for the clips on the vents. It was not a big deal though.
