lake hartwell, none of the rinker from this beach yet. With enough rum on a hot July summer night you can almost convince yourself this is the keys.

Im on lake hartwell on most weekends. Going to start getting crowded with boat traffic from Portman to Clemson here on Saturdays/home games. Not much for restaurant selection on the water, i think a private club/bar then Portman has the galley and a sushi bar. Nevertheless, it's my favorite upstate lake. Never hard to find a quiet cove with a private sandy beach to call your own.

I can't remember the year, has to be 4 years ago..maybe 6. A west wind 21(later became the McGregor venture 21) was my first weekend overnighting aboard a boat on Lake Hartwell. I had over nighted a few times on saluda lake before that but saluda is a mud puddle compared to Hartwell. The gf snapped this pic from the beach as i was paddling the jon boat out. Was a great weekend. I spent about 4 years bringing this 250 dollar sailboat back to life. The first time on big water, setting the sheets and enjoying a cold beer, priceless memory!
