Generator surging

Kohler 5E surging and I think it’s idle jet.   So I’m going to clean it out any thoughts?

Definitely start with rebuild of the carburetor.

Up to you but I rebuilt the carb on the 5e of my 342 and next time I’d just replace it. The carb is painted white so any carb cleaner that touches the outside of the carb makes it paint flake off in super small chunks that make you worry that you are re clogging the jet. Would just buy a new one. 

I had surging years ago, tech made an adjustment and it went away. Can’t remember if they adjustment was to the choke or the carb.  Think it was the carb linkage.

Surging is usually a lean running condition.
