Any one knows which is the type of fire block foam ( my boat has a black color type ) was use to seal between compartments in our Rinker boat, or anything to use for the same purpose. Thx
Fire block is used to seal around a pipe or conduit that goes through a bulkhead or floor. If you have a 1" hole with a 3/4" pipe, you fill the gap around the pipe. It's usually a small gap.
I thought it was only used for vertical pipes. I didn't think it was used in small boats like ours.
Not sure what the ABYC standards are, but when I was a facilities manager building codes specified fireblock foam/caulk had to be red/orange in color so the fire inspector knew at a glance that it was fire rated.
I wonder if that's just regular foam? You could cut a chunk off and see if it burns.
The whole concept of a firewall on a 342 seems a bit pointless to me. Like @Black_Diamond said my 342 has huge openings that run all the way through. Both port and starboard have openings that are at least 12x16 from the engine comparment forward. So a fire in the engine room has a nice double chimney. The fuel lines seem like a nice fuse to a couple hundred gallons of fuel. The fuel tanks are then completely open to the cabin. Sooo if there is a fire i am getting wet and making a call to insurance.

I'm thinking of installing removable plates to block off those openings. My goal was to reduce engine noise in the cockpit while underway, but I hadn't considered the safety benefits.

That's a product for home construction, but I don't know what Rinker used.
