Windlass acting up

I have a Simpson Lawrence horizon 600 windlass. It drops the anchor fine. When bringing it in, the rope won't drop off the slotted spool. It wants to stay on there until it jams. Anyone ever run into this problem? Is there a piece missing ?

I didn't have that exact problem but mine would bind and the rope would skip until the chain grabbed. It ended up being a problem with the rope being swollen. I had the rope replaced and problem was solved. Check your rope ,if it is fraying or swollen then replace it . Pedro

Thanks for your feedback. That's what I was leaning towards, but thought maybe I'm missing something quick and easy.

Clutch too tight? Try backing it off a bit.

Check the tension of the clutch,and, check the condition of the rope.
