2009 Captiva 226 ECM

I’m new to Rinker boats. Bought a 2009 Captiva 226. Long story short, my boat mechanic in town says I need a new ECM. Having a very difficult time trying to track the me down for the Mercruiser motor that’s in the boat( MCM 5.0 MPI). Looking for any sort of advice on possible options or help tracking something down. Thank You.

Did he say why it’s bad? Won’t start? Have you searched anywhere for it?

He went through all the electrical throughout the motor. He would buy parts check and see if that was the issue and if it wasn’t he would proceed to return that part and move on. When I dropped the boat off it would crank and did not have spark. He proceeded to place an ECM from another boat one to my boat and it fired right up. All of my searches have come up empty with everything being sold out or back ordered

Welcome to the forum.  Yeah, parts shortages are a major problem lately.  Have you checked eBay?  You might get lucky and find a used one.

Yes I have been on eBay. Everything ranges from the $500 to $2000 range. Just looking to see if there are any other options prior to buying another unit.

There are places you can send it to and they will diagnose and possibly fix it

Can you post a picture? There has to be a part number on the ECM or something
