Tax kicks in on September 1. It is also a tax on a tax, so for example:

    $200,000 car/boat

    Old calculation (Ontario): $200,000 + 13% HST = $226,000

    New calculation (Ontario): $200,000 + 10% luxury tax = $220,000 + 13% HST = $248,600

    Yay…
Turdeau has to pay for all the millions he's giving away to other countries ... and all the money his government is burning while not accomplishing too much.

Who is buying a 250K boat? If you can afford that you can afford the tax
LOL ... that isn't even close to the point.

Let me put it this way ... are you okay giving (another) 10% of your money to a government that is almost literally burning it?  And what they don't burn, they put in their own pockets??

What is your top income tax bracket Handy?  Is it 54%?
Then add on top of that 7% (of income) property tax,13% sales tax, 6% carbon tax ... and now a 10% luxury tax.

What is that net income now?  31% of what you earn ... imagine that ... they take 69% of what you make. Does that sound fair??

Oh, and we have record inflation, highest carbon emissions that they have ever been, you can't get a passport renewed in less than 3 months, airports a mess with even domestic flights taking 2h to 3h to get through security, 4 to 6 month wait to get an MRI ...

    Yup, sounds rosy to me.

Hey @MarkB don’t forget that we have the luxury of paying some of the highest rates for electricity, cellular services, etc in the modern world with our meagre after tax income.

In PA you pay the Johnstown flood tax on booze. It’s to help with the rebuilding of Johnston from the flood of 1936. It’s a 10% tax on top of the sales tax.

You don't want to know how much our tax is on alcohol. It's like 60% of the price of the alcohol (that means 2/3rds of the price you pay is alcohol, which technically means it's a 200% tax) ... built into the price, so you don't see it ... because most will freak!

Plenty of low to no tax countries to move to.  Many have strings attached…others there are reasons people don’t flock there. 😂
