Radio removal question
I have a 2001 fiesta 243 with the Kenwood radio ( I assume orginal ). It has stopped to "power on" and I started to troubleshoot it. I first tried to remove the radio from the dash, to check radio based fuse ). Luckily I have the metal guides to unlatch the radio from the frame, but the radio will not slide out past 50%. It seems the radio wiring is not long enough for the radio to be removed ( or maybe it is caught on something ).
I have a large storage / access panel below the dash / radio / steering wheel. It looks like it can be unscrewed around its perimeter.
Is it recommended to unscrew this storage panel to gain access to radio wiring? It appears this panel is close enough to the radio opening that I shoudl have a straigh shot at it.
