2002 model engine warning buzzer

Where would I find tbe warning buzzer?  On the engine itself or wired into the helm.  I've read mixed thoughts.  Haven't had a chance yet but vvm is reporting that my buzzer isn't working.

Thanks

Okay found it.  How can I test the buzzer?  Is it unusual for it to go out?

Doesn't it beep when you turn on the ignition key?  You could start the engine and then open the gear lube reservoir and push down on the float.  That would make it beep.

No it has never beeped as long as I've owned the boat.  Was always on my mind to checkout but never got to it.

I guess you could unplug it and measure the voltage across the connector pins when you turn the key.  It should go to either 5 or 12 volts for about a second, then back to zero.  But they sell for less than $20 ... I'd just replace it.

You should definitely fix it.  That horn is your best line of defense against overheating or running out of gear lube.

Mine are wired right into each key. Just pull that panel out and i bet you will see them. You should have one for each engine.
