Power Steering Soft

My power steering turns really easy - which is nice in most circumstances.  However.... when I'm docking the boat and shifting the port and starboard controls from forward to reverse the steering wheel will turn on its own.  When shifting I'm basically stating at idle speed or just slightly higher.  Now that I know this I position my knee to hold the steering wheel.  Before I realized this was happening I had a few ridiculous docking experiences.  I have 496's with mechanical controls for bravo 3's.  I'm curious if there is an adjustment for the power steering to prevent this from happening.  Or, any other ideas.  Thanks for the help.
