Volvo Penta 200 SX-A Manifold Question

I will start this post off by saying I am not savvy around engines, but am learning as I go. I have a Volvo Penta 200 SX-A engine and my boat is signaling an alarm every 1 minute on the minute (Single tone beep). I believe I have checked the things I can such as Oil levels, Coolant, water flow to an extent. I notice that my left manifold is considerably more hot than my right (when facing the rear of the boat looking out). So my question is this, should they be roughly the same temperature and should it be a temperature I can hold my hand on when working properly? if that is the case at least I have narrowed down my problem.
