Kohler 5ECD Generator Cover stuck

pcmpetepcmpete Member Posts: 110 ✭✭
I went to do my first service on my 5ECD generator, but I could not get the cover off.  I pushed and pulled and it will not come off. What the correct way of removing the cover. (I feel stupid that I have to ask this question  :'(   )

Thanks

I take it you already removed the front access panel ...

There are maybe eight small screws.  They are on the side panels (near the top) and on the top panel (near the back).  Little hex head screws.  Remove those and pray they don't break off.  Then, each panel also has pegs that go into holes in the adjacent panel.

I just did my 4ecd which should be the same. I had two screws on the top of each side panel and two more on the top panel towards the back. Once those are off it just comes apart.

It is the front access panel that I cannot remove.

Oh!  Push in on the bottom of the latch.  Or is it the top, I always forget.  But you push in and the latch pops out.

I pushed the button, but the latch does not pop out. I don't to force anything and break it.

While pushing the bottom, put a little pressure on the top of front cover.  It probably won't pop cause there is pressure on the latch.

Ah I see. Mine does this sometimes as well. As I press the latch just pull the panel a little and it comes off.
