Engine starting problem

Quick question: when I’m in the slip and I go to start the engines they both start without a problem but when I’m out in the water for a few hours with the generator on, when I go to start the engines the port engine doesn’t start up without giving it throttle. Starboard engine starts up fine every time. Any idea what might be the problem?

Usually when you need to give it throttle, the IAC valve needs to be replaced. Also could me the MAP sensor.

Does it happen only if you start while the genny is still running?  Or are you saying you shut down the genny and then try to start the engine?

It happened with the generator running and with it shut off. I have no problem starting it when I’m in the slip hooked up to power

Maybe it has to do with something getting hot/warm like a fuel pump and causing issues starting with vapor lock.
