SmartPlug Shore Power

My A/C shore power plug is charred.  Thinking about replacing with the Smart Plug system.  Has anyone done this?  Pros and cons?  Sounds like the old complaint was the installation, but the new Smart Plug has been reshaped to fit into the hole and hole patterns for the standard twist plug.

Anytime you need to replace something I would definitely say do the upgrade.

I considered SmartPlug, but decided against it.  The problem is compatibility ... you can't just walk into any ship store and replace the cord (or borrow one from a dock neighbor).  

To be honest, I'm so happy with my EEL (Easily Engaged Lock) cordset that I wouldn't trade it for anything else.

My new boat came with EEL cords and I love them.

And if you need to replace the shore power receptacle, consider the Marinco AFI 303SSEL-B.  When you close it, there's no spinning the cap to line up the threads ... 1/8 turn and it locks/seals.
