My 2008 260EC w/merc 350 MPI with steering assist has gotten very stiff ?

    Other than very stiff at 1000 rpm or less it sill a great boat. PS. Boat stored inside seen new. Reg. maintenance done  by pro.

    Most of the time it is the steering cable. Not a hard job but does take time.

    Yep but first check your power steering fluid level.

    My stiff steering was caused by the 15-year-old original cable. I didn't know how easy the steering should be until I got the new one. Even engine off, I can steer the drive with my little finger. But like YYZRC says, check everything else first. Andy

    I also changed my cable and it made a huge difference. Not a hard job but not fun either.
