Sad to be selling my beautiful 2004 Rinker 270 Fiesta Vee – New royal blue paint on hull with red stripe 1 yr. ago, new blue carpet professionally installed in cabin 1 yr. ago, Interior and exterior seating all redone 3 years ago  Lightly used full camper canvas in excellent condition, new head, mahogany steps and table top, interior curtains, spotlight, stereo, TV and compass. Upgraded led lights throughout. Rear filler cushions included.  Gas tank just filled.

Engine – Mercruiser 350 Mag with approx. 500 hours on it, runs strong with new oil pan and water pump done 7 months ago.  Boat was fresh water owned for most of its life.  New batteries.

Now the bad – Needs new outdrive and transom assembly.  Transom looks solid but I was told by my marina that it has some rot and needs repair.  First 10K takes it, boat must be removed from marina in Nokomis, FL within 2 weeks.

When they say "some rot" what do they mean... I've been through that on the 270... a new reman drive from all American drives is a good place to start, 3k for the transom assembly..

This is what I was charged to remove engine and T/A, then clean up the transom, they said it was okay, but I didn't like how it looked, tests did prove they were right as far as no water inside, still wanted it fixed to be good, and then had it all put back together.

Yea I’d be skeptical of the Rot comment. Rinkers are known to show moisture on the meter on the transom but it has to do with the paint. Hammer doesn’t do much either around the drives. Unless they drilled holes and pulled out rot several inches or more from the drive I wouldn’t worry as much about that. While the drive is off any bad wood can easily be pulled out and epoxied. Nice of Jeff to post what you really probably need to spend.
