Barnacles

I was looking things over and noticed I have a few barnacles growing in the intake of my port drive, pretty decent size. I was thinking of squirting a 50/50 mix of water and muriatic acid on them to break them down. Then in the spring I will do a 50/50 flush with my camco flush kit. Do you think this will work?

How bad was the rest of the boat when you pulled it out? Lots of growth?

Not bad at all, I was actually surprised how clean it was.

I ended up pouring muriatic acid down the intake tube from inside the boat. My thoughts were that it will clean out the fitting at the transom that’s known to get clogged and then get in the drive intake to hit the barnacles. I think it did it’s job, I used a pick to break down the barnacles. A lot of crud came out and you can hear/see it bubbling. When I flushed the hose with water the green bin turned completely  black with crud! (Can’t believe I didn’t take a pic of it).
