Need good filter wrench for Genny

Below is a picture of the filter wrench I use on the Kohler 5ECD.  Despite cleaning the filter with degreaser, and wrapping it in the grippy blue shelf liner, it still tends to slip on the filter.  I had a hard time removing last years, and this year, I could only tighten 1/2 turn after making contact. And it appears filter has the slightest leak, needing to be a bit tighter.

Do you guys have a go-to wrench that works good, or any other tips to tighten this one up?

There was a tread awhile back about filter wrenches. This is the one I got (Channellock 209) based on those discussions. Works fairly well...

Those Channellock pliers are awesome. They will punch a hole thru a filter easily - so be ready with a rag.

I use the channel lock one from Harbor Freight, works great. @Spyderweb , are you putting oil on the o-ring before you put the filter on? You shouldn’t need to tighten it much after you make contact.

Yep the one aero posted is what I’ve always used for the little horizontal genny filters and it works well.

I like the looks of the channel lock style.  My concern is the tight fit around the filter.  My current has a swivel handle, so the wrench clamp can go straight into the base of the filter, with the handle pointing straight out (not to the side).  With the straight handled channel lock, is there enough room on the side of the filter (perhaps right side) to get to the back of the filter to be able to turn it?

Hands-down the best one for the genny is the one that goes over the end and you connect a ratchet to it.  It fits perfectly!

This worked best for me without crushing. I bent the  rubber hose for exhaust out of the way to get the right bite.

I use the one that goes over end and connect to ratchet  also. I use Napa filter

I second the suggestion for strap wrench. Bought one at Lowes with rubber strap so it doesn’t slip.
