My brother was talking to Sea Tow at the marina Found out the story on this .The boat took on water from a leak in the bellows and sunk .The owner had no insurance and is now responsible for the clean up and on top of that he supposedly had the boat sold and was waiting to close the deal that day
I hope lack of insurance was an honest mistake and not an intentional corner cut. Friend of mine has a contender center console. One summer he and his wife each assumed the other paid the insurance and realized in November they spent the entire summer on it uninsured. They were mortified at what could have happened.
It's a good reminder for everybody. Check your insurance, especially liability and fuel spill. After my past three years, I am a HUGE fan of insurance. Sooner or later, Mayhem will come for you.
If that happened in Ontario just the environmental fines and clean up costs would bankrupt you. Boat owner is responsible for 100% of all costs for recovery, cleanup and monitoring. Gotta have insurance.

It's October, I have plenty of time for the check to clear and still get a winter special priced boat .
