Bulb questions..

So, really lazy question...on my courtesy lights, the interior one by the stairs is out and no bulb in it. It must be a stubby thing....and them at the helm there is a blue one that is out..assume that is the cover and not the bulb...have not been to WM , is there like a pack of various bulbs you buy and figure out what bulbs will work or what! It has a receiver female like a Christmas light..."dome" lights have wire elements.....

I bought some replacement bulbs they were led I’ll see if I can find the info

actually what I did was change the fixture to led lights you can get in touch with Diggin he makes them

When I replaced on my 270 it was a 194 wedge bulb.

@rasbury not all 194 bulbs are the same. Same base yes but several I tried were too long. Especially for the OEM courtesy lights. The white ones with the oval lense. Kind of sad you have to change a whole fixture to change a bulb.! I'll figure it out one way or the other...

There easy to install ,cheap ,and led saves those new batteries you just put in

You can just do bulbs. But if you can def replace the fixtures above deck to sealed units.

Got mine at replacement boat parts.com they come with white led bulbs changed mine to blue. Got the bulbs at autozone. Way cheaper than what they wanted. Fit right in without mods and Much better looking than the old ones. Heres apic before I painted the seats and changed the steering wheel.

So I found these..I don't need anything real bright in the cabin..I have like 4 ceiling lights in a 270 cabin so don't need a lot. These sound like they are pretty bright?

I dont know about these in particular but my experience with halogen lights has been they get hot. They also use more wattage than led's. I will be interested in seeing how they work out as they certainly should be brighter than whats in my boat.

That's a good point. There isnt much room between the base and the cover. I don't know how easy it would be to replace the covers if they melted or turned brown from the heat.

Those are 10 watts each. It looks like the original would have been about 3. So you actually are going to draw about 3 times as much as the original bulb.

So I have not ordered them yet...and I don't want to go brighter than I have- it's not that big of a cabin and there are four lights spread through the cabin and at night time they are plenty of lite. They look like the ones I have now- I know crap about bulbs....the ones I have now get plenty hot. My finger still hurts. I pulled one out to get more as I have no spares...lost the dam thing so now I really have to find them...went to pull one out that had been on for a while and surprised I did not get a blister, it really was hot. So you have what filament, LED and Halogen? The covers on mine are already brown...I think I must have replaced one over the years as it is clear...so I need to look at something then with 3 watts...what about the "lumina" number, does that mean anything to this discussion?

You could always install a dimmer switch if your lights are on a switch

Contact superbriteled.com some bulbs shouldnt be installed in an enclosed housing. They have been around for years. They have a phone support. Their bulbs are a little more but they back them.

But, it's like a lot of other stuff with these boats...no OEM support for anything.

I went over to the west marine in Daytona Beach and did find the bulbs....I still have to track down the courtesy light- that is an odd one but I like it-
