Replacing A/C unit

I am thinking of replacing my A/C unit. Anyone replace the unit on a 342? Model # and price? Thanks for any input.

I installed a 16K BTU from MarineAir in my 330 it was $1912.06 including shipping last July. I highly recommend it, extremely quiet.

I think the 18K BTU is only a few bucks more and I'd do that with a 342. The A/C failed after two weeks on my brand new (2016) EC 360. It was a 16K unit. Rinker was awesome but sent an 18K unit to replace it. IMO it was waaay better.

I want to say my unit on my 342 is a 14k unit.  In this case bigger isn't going to always be better.  @Handymans342 is the resident A/C expert and can probably explain it better than i can but too large of a unit will have it cycling on and off too often.   My unit isnt that old but it sure would of been nice to have more air vents.  Right now everything comes out of one main vent and it just doesn't put the air in sleeping berths like you would want.  If you happen to be standing there cooking then you are great.

My 2006 342 FV has a 16K Marine Air unit model # 205-311700. No problem heating or cooling the main cabin. I find it too noisy when sleeping in the vee berth so turn it off overnight. I plug in  small heater if needed.

@davidbrooks ..... agree completely. If an A/C unit is up-sized incorrectly it will "long cycle" causing spikes in heating/cooling. During the cooling cycle this could lead to damp clammy conditions because dehumidification periods are too infrequent. The 16K btu A/C that came standard with my 2016 EC360 was definitely undersized which is maybe Rinker sent an 18K replacement? Although I have done a lot of custom heat take-off work for custom homes I would defer to Steve's knowledge. Replacement time is certainly the time to get 'er right!

I am looking to replace mine - it works but the Admiral can’t sleep from the compressor noise. I am looking at this from WM, apparently a 16k replacement for the 12K MarineAir there now. Any feedback on noise levels - or lack thereof? Hate to spend over $2300 on a new unit for no or minimal difference.

My 342 had a 16k unit and it was more than enough. Would cool the cabin from 82 to 70 in under an hour. I would not go bigger
