Boat lift

I am thinking of buying a lift. Does the ac inlet seawater valve need to be shut off every time it is lifted to save the prime? Thanks

So, where I keep my boat, it is about 90% lifts in the marina.  When I owned a 2002 310, I never had to shut off the inlet valve.  My current boat, I have to shut off the valve or I have a hard time priming the AC.  Everything else is fine.  Now, there are two other identical boats in my marina and they don't have to shut them off. I think it is hit or miss with exactly where your pump is mounted and how the hoses are ran.  Having a lift is really best of all worlds!

Thanks for the feedback. This boat was previously on a lift and the owner said he always shut off the valve. Since we added a custom cushion in the aft I'm trying to get away from turning it on and off on a regular basis. Has anybody ever heard of putting a check valve there?

My EC 310 and EC 360 wouldn't self prime so I out charging valves on both lines.
