Intake manifold

I have been working on plugs, cap and rotor etc.. noticed corrosion on the intake manifold around the area where the shaft goes through the manifold...it's not just a little surface rust...other electrical questions too...

@rasbury do you mean throttle body? Not sure what shaft you’re talking about.

Yes, distributor shaft...not right at the point it goes through but around it...nothing has been leaking there...

Ahhh, I would just clean it with some scotch brite and paint. Probably just from moisture in the air.

agree, I had water sitting on my manifold , turned out the PO had drilled a hole in the storage box under the seat aft and it was draining right on my motor.

Ots hard to get at anything...there is some real corrosion, not just surface rust.

Dealer has our boat waiting for a new distributor. Port motor started leaking at the distributor seal last summer. Only fix is to replace the unit. Ffffffff.

Said they rarely see them leak.......but sh!t happens.

Would be #12 if that’s the gasket you’re talking about. Only $2.40.

Definitely will review with mechanic 1st. They were mentioning that the distributor had quite a wobble to it. Find out in pretty short order.

If it is wobbling, more than a gasket issue.  I’d be concerned about the gear on the camshaft too.
