New Anchor Rode

I need to replace my anchor rode and want to make sure what I buy will work with my windlass.  I have a Horizon 900 with a RC0860 gypsy.  Per the manual (pic below) I need 5/16 chain and 9/16 rope.  I'm looking that the one in link from West Marine.  The material is nylon.  The rope portion of my existing rode doesn't seem to me to be nylon.  I think of nylon as smoother and this seems rougher.  Is that just because of its age?  Also, the one in the link is three strand and I believe my existing one is braided.  Thoughts?  Any better rode that I should consider?  Thanks for the help!

What size boat? On my 280EC, I have 30’ of chain and 150’ of line. I like having a lot of chain, which helps the anchor hold.

Personally: use the 8-Strand Plait for the rode. Softer, lays flat (more in the same area).

Thanks for the responses.  Cableguy, my boat is a 390.  Eight plait seems to be a better choice.  Black_Diamond, what diameter are you using?  What windlass?

Now I'm not sure I'll need a new rode or not.  My anchor got hung up on the bottom over the weekend.  I tied and lifejacket to the end of the rope and left it there while I figured out what to do.  Ended up getting a diver to retrieve it for $300.  I haven't seen it yet so I don't know the condition of the anchor or rode.

I had the 700 series. Don’t remember the diameter off hand. I will say that 8-plait works better then the 3-strand.
