@Cableguy Greg - they recommend a disconnect switch within 10 feet of the shore power inlet.  That's the reason for the switches in the cockpit.  It lets you easily disconnect all of the boat's loads before plugging in the shore power cable.

BUT:  that disconnect switch is NOT a current-limiting circuit breaker.  It's just a switch so you can disconnect power.  The wiring between the receptacle and the breaker panel is unprotected except for the breaker on the pedestal.

Is it any 30 amp to 50 amp cord adapter with his own circuit breaker on it in the market right now. I have to used one during my last trip because the marine I dock didn't have any 30 amp available when i arrived. they let me borrow one 30 amp to 50 amp adapter, but to be honest i did't think about fire or anything else. I am better happy for the comment from Larea about it, because it open my eyes to get the right adapter for my future trips.

@oscar1 - yes, an adapter with an inline breaker would be nice.  I looked around and didn't see anything like that.

I being looking around after your safety comment about it. I can not find anything for 30 to 50 with any protection in the adapter. Maybe i have to fabricate my one. Thx larea

@oscar1 I found a housing to mount a breaker on the transom.  If your boat is like mine, the transom has an obsolete receptacle for cable TV.  You could replace it with a 30A breaker.

We have a different boat model, but i have the receptacle for cable tv in the transom as you mention. I going to look into it to see how I can get the electrical breaker install into my system now. Thx Larea one more time.
