Hi,
I have a generator on my rinker 340ec.
it was running fine all season, just this past week I went it fire it up and it ran for about 5 seconds and then quit. I opened the engine hatch and realized there is a reservoir that is empty. Would this be what is causing the problem? If so what is the reservoir for? Coolant? Oil? It’s a clear bottle?

    That’s the coolant reservoir.

    It will shut down if it gets too hot.  Refill with coolant and watch for a leak.

    Bigger trick is getting any trapped air out of the system.  

    Assuming this is a Kohler 5e?

    The coolant reservoir being empty is not ideal, but how full is your heat exchanger? Was it full to the top or low also? Agree with Dream I use the Prestone any color coolant.
