If it is like mine - the Lowrance 3000 if I recall - they said the frequency is different. I put on a transom mount to my plotter. I have the LCDs flickering, thinking maybe to have rebuilt.
This happened to me a few years back. I went the Faria route as well as this was the closest in style to the guages i had. Fast forward to me ripping out all my guages and going digital and now i have ripped out the old transponder and replaced it with an Airmar DT800. There are a couple of items to consider when replacing it. Make sure you look at the transponders to see what deadrise they are designed for. They definitely need to be pointed and angled correctly for an accurate reading. Second. You are going to find that when you beat out the old one... and i do mean beat it out. The hole is a good deal larger than what you need. So plan on lots of 5200 or putting in a spacer of sorts to get the right diameter. I went the route of filling the gap with 5200.
