Soon Grasshopper, soon. I'm buying insurance, booking a delivery captain, scheduling repair work, transferring documentation, and a hundred other things. Not enough hours in the day! There will be a long, satisfying post here with some great photos.
It's amazing how much work goes into selling a boat and buying a yacht.
It is done! Although we closed the sale a few weeks ago, the buyer postponed delivery to accommodate his other travel plans. He got underway today, on a cold rainy morning, heading down the Potomac towards the Chesapeake Bay and beyond. Man, we will miss that boat. So many great times were had!
Yeah, the photo captures my mood perfectly. But his mood was all puppies and rainbows, which cheered me up a lot!
I couldn't imagine better buyers for this boat. They had a 342, got out of boating for a while, and are now ready for cruising again. He's a true boating enthusiast who will know the boat inside-out within a few weeks.
If he gets on here at some point, I know you'll welcome him. He understands that every detail about his boat has been chronicled here!
So, the story doesn’t quite end here….as the ole LaRea came by Annapolis, well, I got to say hello😉. She overheated and was in a marina in town. With luck of a phone call,I happened to be home on a Friday night and not even a drink in hand. I had the privilege of getting in that engine room with my tools. I had thought I’d be changing out the seawater pump, but low and behold the belt was off due to a faulty idler pulley. I was able to have a great chat with the new owner as he rode with me and my wife over to my boat. I had a new spare pulley on my boat. Luckily I was able to fix ole LaRea and they were able to make the rest of the trip home yesterday.
Definitely was great getting to know the new owner and have a new friend we will get to meet again soon, possibly Rinkervous!
You guys, it was a truly stunning act of generosity. I called @Dream_Inn just trying to see if he could recommend a mechanic. Next thing I know, he's on his way over to help out. It's rare for an idler pulley to fail, which makes it even more amazing that he had one in his spare parts kit.
Thanks @raybo3 & @LaRea , I just did what most everyone on this forum would do. It felt really awesome to actually have the part needed to help him get home. It is really great to see that boat go to someone that already knows how great a boat he has. I can't wait to meet up with him on the bay!
