raw water pump repair on a 2005 , 282 cuddy.

last time i had the pump repaired the engine had to be removed to gain access to the pump. do you have any ideas so i can avoid such a large expense again. boat has a 496 mag and from the hatch i cannot even see the pump.if the liner in the bench seat could somehow ????? be removed without destroying it i may be able to get to the pump. i like to change impellars every 3 years. you guys built it and sold it, HOW about some help?
