Early this morning a 31' boat hit one of our breakwalls (in the dark), injuring six and killing one. The one killed was found pinned underneath the boat around 7:30am.
Here's the weird part: While this recovery was going on, another body popped up a few hundred yards away. From the amount of decomposition, they estimated it was probably in the water for about two years.
I don't think I'd ever want to be a search and rescue diver - having to come across and recover dead bodies, especially decomposing ones.
Here's the story is anyone if interested: https://chicago.suntimes.com/2023/7/28/23810986/six-rescued-boat-distress-call-in-lake-off-oak-street-beach

My armchair quarterbacking, based on the pics I've seen of where the boat started and wound up: It was probably traveling at least 20-30mph, hit the breakwall rocks, went up and over, flipping over in the process and ejecting the six survivors, and trapping the victim.
