Cold starts are becoming very difficult

So my 270 with a 5.7 Volvo GI (fuel
injected) has been acting up. On cold starts it takes a while. I found that if I advance the throttle all the way, then turn the starter it will start right away. And once it’s warm it fires up with a click of the ignition. Thoughts? I was thinking maybe the coil?

I would think it might be be your IAC valve.

had a similar issue and replaced the batteries they were 3 years old

@GMSLITHO he mentioned that putting the throttle in full forward would get it started. That’s a known way to start a boat with a bad IAC valve. I don’t think advancing the throttle with bad batteries would help at all.

God created the small block 5.7 to be the most simplistic, reliable and versatile V8 known to man....then man has to make it all complicated by making it EFI.
