Mercury DTS control throttle handle loose

Can a DTS throttle control handle be tighten down to be more rigid? I have to keep correcting my rpm during my last trip. it was going down slow little by little until one time the boat fail off plane. Thx

Looks like you use a 5mm Hex key/wrench to make the adjustments.
