Good day all. I’ve posted photos of my spot light and control panel in hopes some one can help me. The spotlight turns on and moves up and down but does not pan. What should I be looking into? A burned out motor? Something on the controller side?
I guess you might have a bad motor or corroded connector. It only takes a few minutes to open it up. I've never heard of a Jabsco controller failing, but I've replaced two gears by scavenging eBay parts.
So update. I did as suggested and tried turning the unit and the gear isn’t broken. It actually moved a bit in both directions so I went to the control panel turned it on and it rotated. It does seem like it was seized. Is there anything that can be lubricated to make this thing work better?
Interesting! I'd try spraying the gears with WD40 and working them a bunch. If it frees up, then lubricate with white lithium grease and you might have a win.
This is what mine looked like when i took it apart. My guess is it was left pointing up and the back cover filled with water because the bottom rubber boot had broke. New old stock motor and boot off ebay and good as new
FWIW when I bought my 270 last year it had the same exact problem...I kept playing with it and eventually it started working. Not sure if it was in the switch or just freed up the motor, but I'm sure to exercise it now and store it face down.
Ok so I got the retainer ring and bulb out exposing the motor assemblies. I gave the gears and motors a spray with some silicone lubricant. The panning motor is moving like new now. Up and down was good already.
