Condensation

I have been getting a little bit of mold inside the cabin on my 342. Couldn't figure out where it was coming from until this morning. All 2 hatches in the cabin where wet with condensation. I never noticed this before. The hatches are shut tight and there are no leaks. I will put some rubber conditioner on the seals tomorrow. Hopefully that will help. Any other comments or advice is appreciated.

We have major condensation issues even with vehicles parked under a carport.  The issue is the humidity in the air.   Causes mold/mildew and in cars eventually saggy headliners.

If you're on a slip running the AC should keep the humidity in check.  I have a 120v table top humidifier to run during the summer months between launches.  I use the damp rid gallon container during the winter months.  I cannot run the marine ac system all summer due to sitting on the trailer.

This is assuming you're not getting excessive water due to a leak.

Thanks @PickleRick I don't think there are any leaks. I had a new A/C just installed. I will run the dehumidifier once I figure it out...lol

Doubt this is a problem. Likely just because it’s cold outside and warm in your cabin. Normal to have condensation in the hatches when it’s cold outside and warm in.

Your boat being considerably larger than my 2859 might need 2 buckets of damp rid.   Usually a pack of 4 gets free shipping from Walmart.com if you want to avoid the drive.

I’ll add that I use damp rid in my cabin year round.  It’s a safe preventative measure.  My boat is on a lift, so no running ac all the time, although I wouldn’t leave it with running ac all week anyhow.

@Liberty44140 actually I think the problem is reverse. It was very cool in the cabin and the sun was beating on the hatches and the condensation was all around the "rim" of the hatches. I have a new A/C this year and I haven't had time to figure out the dehumidifier just yet. On my old unit in dehumidifier mode the raw water pump would only run for about 4 minutes an hour. Not sure how this one works but I will in the next couple of days.

Hmm, again I don’t think this is a problem but we generally see it when hot inside and cold outside. That said, I’m sure I’ll get plenty of disagreement on this but a 16k unit is too big for the 342. All of them came with 16k yes so I’d assume 12k is too small and yes it’s nice that it will cool the cabin from 85 to 68 in 30 min, but you can tell it’s too big in that it cycles a lot at night and the v birth can get very clammy at night. The unit never has enough time to dehumidify on an 80 degree night because it cycles on for only 5-10 min and then off so you never really get dehumidify unless you are in that mode or it’s very hot out.
