So on parking our boat in storage I caught a branch and really messed up at least one of tge sections of a pole- can a new piece be fabled in?

Remove the canvas and take it to a metal shop where they have the proper tools (and likely will apply heat). For a few bucks it will be like new with no kinks/creases.
