Dock Lines - marking

Just bought 4 more double braided 25' lines in black. Sale at the local boat store.
I have about 8 older also black - different lengths.
Any suggestions for marking them for lengths? Heard larger colored heat shrink tubing may work....

friend used to dip the ends in plastidip. he did it so they were easy to identify as his. Could use different colors for different lengths
