Fiberglass Rectangle

Hi all,

I have a 2006 270 Fiesta Vee. Remodeling the front cabin. When removing the table support floor to inspect the bow area, i see a clear almost see through rectangle of fiberglass it's about 4 inches by 2 or 3 inches. It appears very solid and original. Do you have any idea what this is? Ty so much for your time and expertise.  D

I have my boat home to run a new vhf wire (tried to pull it through) anyway, sounds like if I open the forward storage I may see what your seeing.

Here are a few pics.  If you look to the upper left and upper right, you see the same color glass.  No visible damage and it's thick like original.  Just curious,but not worried.  At first I thought in hull ducer....now no clue.  Ty for looking.

I would just put some fiberglas mat over it and beef it up with a couple coats

In your pic, you have the fridge out. I just took my galley out to rebuild it.  Was in fairly good shaoe, but wife wants a differennt color. 

Question:   Did your fridge condensate hose just drop down through a hole where the fridge is?  I assume it runs to the rear bildge?

Was thinking about adding a sump pump for that and the sink to make it cleaner.  

Ty again for looking and please let me know if you need anything from my end.  We have the cabin gutted.

Maybe the builders didn't care about the finish in that spot as you were never supposed to see it?

Maybe.  I reglassed it and shaped it a bit to ease flow of water from there to mid bildge.  It appears very thick.

I'm not a fiberglass person...when I open my hatches the hull looks "finished" so I'm not understanding what I'm looking at...

I added glass and cloth to be sure.  Easy peasy.  Pic attached. Ty all.

@rasbury, this is under the cabin table at the first bulkhead.   The top is removed and you are looking down at the hull under the table floor.  Last pic shows fiberglass added with 3 layers of cloth....overkill, but done.  I was not happy with the low point in that area and built it up so no water can collect there if present..  this will force it to move on to the mid bilge area...I hope

Sounds like the right move to me- I've thought about trying to create storage there...a slide out drawer. One of my biggest finds for storage, had the boat a few years and did not know there was storage behind the seat back adjacent the helm- but now it's full..

Yeah, when I removed that cooler cubby I could not believe how much space was there!  I put in a door from Boat Outfitters (Seafoam color was a perfect match) but opted to cut all the way up to the outlet/cable/circuit breaker boxes and move them elsewhere.  So happy I did!  Next step is to make a holder for some small totes and then paint the fiberglass and add some flooring to the drain tub to give a proper finished look. 

Side note: using an "extreme" carbide tipped blade on the multi-tool cut far easier and faster than a jig saw and definitely lessened the risk of chipping the gelcoat.

That looks great.   So the previous owner had tile in the cabin.  Nice glass 350 lbs worth of tile.  Crazy.  Its all gone, rectangle is reinforced and the tile is out.  Epoxy paint next.

Thanks all.  We think they meant well.  Then the daughter didn't winterize the boat.  Her lose my gain. It's now our retirement project.....so, maybe 6-9 months then to the water. But for now,if anyone needs pics, it's in my back yard lol

The 270 is a great boat- I have the same year. It's trailerable while anything bigger on this site is a much bigger financial commitment for sure.  It will be worth the effort.

What are you doing for repower? Crate motor?
