Generator Oil Filter Question

My Kohler Generator is a 9EOZD so while it is not a 5E, it is very similarly laid out. Filter in pretty much the same location horizontally screwed in midway up the engine. When I installed the new oil filter in the fall I dented it. I am sure its fine, but I cant leave it, have to change it. All of the oil is below the filter in the pan right? Should be just as easy to change the filter with the oil in the engine, as with the oil drained correct?

That is correct although there will be a little oil still in the oil filter.  Enough to activate OCD and require you to possibly add maybe an ounce or so  to get back to the FULL mark after an initial run to reprime the oil filter.

Perfect thanks. Yea I hate the horizontal filters, always have those 2-3 ounces, LOTS of paper towels to try to catch Thanks.

My horizontal oil filter trick is loosen it to the point that it can then be undone by hand. Put a ziplock bag around it to remove it all the way. When the seal breaks and oil come out, the bag catches it, continue to unscrew, keep filter in bag and seal it up until disposal

My guys just like to dump oil all over the customers equipment then half **** clean it up.
