Going off memory, Briggs and Kohler do not call for any 10w40 in any temp range.
Kawasaki calls for 10w40 in winter temps from 0-40 degrees. Snow blowers?
Some of the Chinese generators like champion call for 10w40 in temps above @50 degrees.
For the most part 10w30, 30wt or 20w50 covers much broader temp ranges in your air cooled outdoor power equipment, varying by brand. We put 20w50 in all Kawasaki engines now. We don't have snow blowers this far south. 30wt in Briggs and Kohler except for Kohler command models that run 10w30. Honda is a safe bet of 10w30 at any temp or 30wt above about 50 degrees.
